“GIRP – Golf Industry Relief Program” on the Way
Winston-Salem, NC (January, 23, 2009)
AccuSport International, Inc. today announced a broad-based and far-reaching economic stimulus plan designed to lift all areas of the golf business from the effects of the current recession. The company’s efforts have been designed specifically to assist equipment manufacturers, golf retailers and clubs in generating revenue from fittings and lessons.
Under the plan, all AccuSport products, including Vector Pro, VectorX, VRange, Vector Links and accessories, are being discounted by 20% until March 15th. Additionally, all upgrades to the new Vector Pro micro-lens platform with VTeach and VFit software are also included.
AccuSport, with over 9,000 launch systems in place around the globe, is uniquely positioned to lead these efforts. As an example, under the new programs, a golf professional can purchase a Vector Pro for $2,560 or lease that same system for just under $100 per month. “This aggressive stimulus plan will now help golf professionals acquire the tools they need to drive revenue and provide service for their clubs or businesses,” said Don Thorup, President of AccuSport. “Now, they’ll have the hardware and software to provide launch monitor data during lessons and drive club and ball sales through additional fittings. Our conservative estimates provided by the national office of accountancy indicate less than a three month return on investment making this program potentially the leading driver of consumer spending in America today,” Thorup said.
“We think the federal government’s TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) has proven ineffective for the golf industry,” said Thorup. “AccuSport’s new program, GIRP (Golf Industry Relief Program), will now truly provide the incentive consumers need to make that next equipment purchase or book a lesson,” Thorup stated.
“These are challenging economic times and the golf industry certainly isn’t immune to the effects of the global slowdown,” said Thorup. “We see these efforts as our duties as Americans to put our shoulder to the wheel of economic growth and help lead the recovery of our industry,” Thorup stated.
AccuSport is the leading developer and marketer of golf swing launch monitors and its Vector Launch System is recognized throughout the golf industry for its accuracy, portability and affordability. The Vector Pro model offers a fully integrated video swing analysis application for lessons, along with a student database for storing sessions. The new VectorX platform is an all-in-one launch system that captures, processes and displays launch data via an on-board computer and display screen.
The company announced a series of initiatives today designed to thaw the frozen club, ball and lesson markets. “Some folks are being critical of us indicating that we’re offering too big of a plan. We say, ‘This is not the time for small action.’ We saw markets seize up throughout the fall,” Thorup stated. “New equipment, rounds played, and booked lessons all took a hit. Our aggressive actions should begin to bring some relief as golf professionals can now rely upon AccuSport’s scope and scale to get the industry moving again.”
“While the federal government continues to debate the merits of funding “shovel ready infrastructure projects” we see thousands and thousands of “golf bag ready” consumers who just need the proper information to pull the trigger on that next equipment purchase or lesson,” Thorup stated. “AccuSport’s new programs will now put the right tools in the hands of golf professionals who can deliver the right equipment or information to improve golf performance and drive consumer spending at all levels,” Thorup said.
AccuSport will be in Orlando for the PGA Show beginning January 29th and can be visited at Booth # 2003.
