ORLANDO – Sligo Wear, Inc., one of the fastest rising apparel brands in the golf industry, is making its PGA Merchandise Show debut, Jan. 29-31 in theOrange County Convention Center. The Mississauga, Ontario-based company will show off why it is creating change in the golf apparel market in booth #8285.
“We’re very excited to be at the show for the first time,” said Shawn Aucoin, Director of Sales for Sligo Wear, Inc. “As young and growing company, there’s no better place to get in front golf industry leaders, customers and potential customers than this show.”
Sligo Wear, Inc. is bringing what Aucoin calls a “fresh vibe” to the golf apparel industry. The 2009 Sligo Wear Collection features classic designs with a modern twist on shirts, pants, caps, sweaters and outerwear.
“It’s a collection that works on and off the course, with modern fits and styles that range from conservative to flashy,” Aucoin said. “The Collection’s interchangeable color ways work with each other creating multiple outfit possibilities.”
Sligo Wear, Inc.’s PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour staff includes PGA Tour champions Brian Gay and Ben Crane, as well as Steve LeBrun and Bubba Dickerson and PGA teaching professional Jeff Ritter, Director of Instruction at the ASU Karsten Golf Academy in Tempe, Ariz. Gay is off to the best start of his career, with a T5 at the Sony Open and a T18 at the Mercedes-Benz Championship.
“Brian’s early success on the PGA Tour this season and the successes we anticipate with our other staff players really has our sales reps motivated,” said John Coleman, president of Fairway Styles, Inc., the U.S. distributor for Sligo Wear. “We’ve had great success filling some of our sales territories and we’re currently looking to fill more spots. This is an exciting time for Sligo Wear.”
Sligo Wear, Inc. was founded by a group of friends and active golfers each of who were frustrated by a lack of fashionable and proper fitting affordable golf apparel in the market place. At Pro Am to the Azores in early 2004, they noticed a different fashion for golf apparel and upon their started Sligo Wear Inc.
Sligo Wear was an immediate success in the Canadian market and in 2007, the company signed a deal with Fairway Styles Inc. of Richmond, Va., to bring fashion change to the U.S. market.
“Our goal always has been to make fashionable clothes that fit properly with performance fabrics at a reasonable price for the marketplace,” Aucoin said. “Our design philosophy is to create outfits that the fashion conscious golfer can wear both on and off the course.
“We believe we have achieved that goal but we’re not stopping in our effort to continue to bring change to the golf apparel industry. We’re very excited about our 2009 Collection that already has had great reviews from our retail partners and green-grass partners.”
