Leader in innovation and revolutionary technology announces high MOI Di9 irons, classically fashioned Smooth driver, tour-milled Tw9 wedges and more
CHICAGO, Jan. 26, 2009 – Building on nearly a century of designing, engineering and developing state-of-the-art golf equipment for every skill set, Wilson Golf proudly announces its 2009 lineup from Wilson Staff, Wilson Golf’s premium line of professional golf equipment. The 2009 offerings stem from a corporate commitment to technologically advanced R&D, and include two Golf Digest “Hot List” award winners.
Since 1911, Wilson Golf has developed more irons than any other golf company in the world, with 63 Major championships being won withWilson irons, more than any other iron in history. To further establish its stronghold in the iron category, Wilson introduces the Staff Di9 iron, a technology-driven combination of power and forgiveness with a high MOI head design and urethane shock-traps combining to deliver softer feel and longer distance. The Di9 iron was honored with a Golf Digest “Hot List” award in 2009 in the super game-improvement category.
The second “Hot List” award winner is the Wilson Staff Smooth driver, a high performance, 460cc driver inspired by the smooth, sleek lines of today’s high performance automobiles. The driver offers a more traditional shape and style and incorporates progressive internal weight distribution, creating a progressive dynamic loft. Fujikura E-Fit shafts are matched to specific lofts for total performance design.
Wilson also proudly debuts its new Staff Tw9 Tour-Milled wedges, used successfully as prototypes by Padraig Harrington during his back-to-back Major championship run last summer. Designed for higher spin production and precise distance control, the Tw9 series is available in two finish options and in new, lower lofted options designed to fill gaps created by today’s lower lofted pitching wedges. The wedges feature deep tour-milled grooves, allowing players to control distance and increase accuracy around the green.
