2007 Masters Champion Zach Johnson joined by Cameron Beckman and Dustin Johnson atop the Kodak Challenge leaderboard
February 1, 2009 – The inaugural Kodak Challenge completed the third hole of the season at the FBR Open. Four days of exciting shots and moments on one of the coolest holes in golf was capped off by substantial changes on the Kodak Challenge leaderboard. Johnson Wagner entered the FBR Open as the Kodak Challenge leader, however, he bogeyed 16 twice, allowing others to make a move.
Dustin Johnson, Cameron Beckman and Zach Johnson catapulted into a three-way tie for first place at 3 under par. Wagner will have the chance to drop the bogey if he plays more than 18 Kodak Challenge holes and performs better relative to par on the additional holes. Current co-leader Zach Johnson entered the FBR Open in second place thanks to an eagle on the first Kodak Challenge hole at the Mercedes-Benz Classic in Maui. He is currently the only leader to have played in two Kodak Challenge holes. Known for its unique atmosphere, the intense par-3 certainly was lively throughout the week. The raucous fans surrounding “the coliseum” enjoyed a memorable moment on the Kodak Challenge and were perhaps at their loudest when local favorite Ted Purdy stuck his tee shot to 9 inches, the closest to the pin during tournament play this week. He continued to delight the crowd by waving a Cardinals flag all along his walk to the green. Stay tuned for more Kodak Challenge next week at the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines South Course in San Diego, CA.
