ORLANDO, FL (January 30, 2008) – Total Golf Adventures, the only at-school, after-school golf enrichment program in the country, won two categories in the 16th Annual ING Industry Honors awards program, Announced Friday from ClubING at the PGA Merchandise Show.
Winners in 12 categories were announced before a full room in ClubING, the ING hospitality room. Golf commentator Mary Bryan was the master of ceremonies.
Called by some the “Academy Awards of the golf industry,” the ING Industry Honors program is conducted by the non-profit International Network Of Golf to recognize outstanding achievement in the golf business.
Nominations were accepted throughout the year from anyone in the golf industry. Sub-committees trimmed the nominee list down to the top three in each category. ING members then voted electronically to determine the winners, who receive a beautiful statue from Heritage Creations in New York.
Total Golf Adventures, founded by Joshua Jacobs, was nominated in two categories – Player Development and Business Achievement – and was voted best in both categories by ING members. In its five years, Total Golf Adventures is ensconced in 24 states with close to 50 franchisees putting on programs in more than 1,500 schools. Jacobs’ brainchild has now brought nearly 40,000 youngsters into the game.
The Acushnet Company took first place in both television categories, Individual Commercial and TV Commercial Series. The Individual Commercial winner was the “I Mark My Titleist” spot with famous tour players showing their personalized marks. The Cobra Speed Drivers series featuring David Feherty in the yellow chair with various tour players, won the series.
Rife Putters, the leading putter on the PGA Senior Tour, was tops in the Product Ingenuity-Emerging Companies category, beating out the Sun Mountain Clubglider and Sky Caddie.
The Bridgestone B330-RX Golf Ball won the Product Ingenuity-Market Leaders category, ahead of TaylorMade Tour Burner Irons and Exotics XCG/CB2 Fairway Woods. A complete list of winners is below. The International Network Of Golf is a non-profit, media-based networking organization whose mission is to enhance and promote communication and education in golf. Membership is open to anyone in the golf industry , related industries and media.
