Introduced in 2008, the EWGA ‘Women Who Lead’ Awards are designed to recognize outstanding performance and outstanding results among EWGA chapter volunteer leaders in 10 distinct categories. From 268 nominations, finalists were selected from each of the association’s 12 geographic sections followed by the naming of the ten winners.
“Our ‘Women Who Lead’ Awards are all about recognizing women who challenge themselves to be the best volunteers in ten key categories. Sherri was a wonderful honorary chair and excellent role model,” says Pam Swensen, chief executive officer of the EWGA. “Sherri demonstrates how to continue to challenge ones self, to take the lead and be a winner. She is a veteran LPGA Tour player who keeps winning – three British Opens, majors in two different decades and four U.S. Solheim Cup teams.”
Founded in 1991, the EWGA is dedicated to connecting women to learn, play, and enjoy golf for business and fun. There are currently over 125 chapters throughout the United States with international chapters in Canada and France, each run by volunteer leaders. The chapters provide a wide range of golf, social and networking activities for both new and experienced golfers.
