Liberty, SC – More than 250 tee-times at some of the most prestigious golf courses in the Carolinas will go under the virtual hammer at an innovative online auction this spring. With a few clicks of the mouse at Rounds4Research.com golfers can secure access to some of the nation’s highest ranked and most exclusive courses.
The auction runs April 19 to May 6, overlapping with the PGA Tour’s Verizon Heritage in Hilton Head, SC and Wachovia Championship in Charlotte, NC. Potential bidders can go online now to explore the list of available courses and register for a reminder email in advance of the auction opening.
Two-time U.S. Open Championship venue, Pinehurst No. 2, and PGA Tour stops, Harbour Town Golf Links and Sedgefield Country Club, are among courses on offer. Exclusive and highly-ranked private clubs including Long Cove, Secession, Yeamans Hall and Cape Fear are also available along with courses in four other states and the Dominican Republic.
Proceeds will offset mounting budget pressures on world-class turfgrass research programs at Clemson University and North Carolina State University. Science they generate helps maintain the Carolinas’ standing among premier golfing destinations.
“These universities perform research that protects the health and the future of golf in our region which delivers an annual economic benefit of $5-billion-plus,” says project creator, Tim Kreger, of the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association.
“Like so much else in today’s economic climate, these programs are struggling for funding. Rounds4Research.com gives the ultimate beneficiary of that research – the golfer – the chance to benefit golf and their game at the same time.”
The auction timing is ideal for Father’s Day, which falls on June 21 this year.
