Led By Innovative Black Widow® Tour? Golf Cleats, Softspikes® 2009 Accessory Line Features ClubGrip? Grip Wrap, Golf Ball Alignment Tool? And Softspikes Push Tool?
Brentwood, Tennessee, February 26, 2009 … Despite a challenging economic climate in golf, golf accessories remain the key intangibles demanded by golfers at all levels, including cleats, tees, ball markers, divot tools, golf grips and much more. PrideSports, maker of world-leading Softspikes golf cleats and Pride golf tees, the #1 Cleat and Tee on TOUR, has completed the launch of its 2009 Softspikes-brand golf accessory line.
The line-up of products in the 2009 Softspikes accessory collection includes the revolutionary, adjustable Black Widow® Tour™ golf cleats, Softspikes® ClubGrip™ grip wraps, the Golf Ball Alignment Tool™ and the Softspikes Push Tool™. On the heels of the 2009 PGA Show, where PrideSports officially debuted its 2009 Softspikes golf accessory line to the industry, the company is now rolling out the full line across all distribution channels, with products hitting store shelves starting in spring 2009.
“Backed by the popularity of the Softspikes brand, we have now introduced product innovations across all sectors of the golf accessory market that we believe are essential to golfers in 2009 and beyond,” said Joe Zeller, President, PrideSports. “At a time when golfers simply can’t justify $500 drivers or expensive new iron sets, we know they still need accessories to maximize their performance on the course. From cleats to grip wraps, we now have a high-performance product in every category that we believe will be well received by golfers.”
Leading the 2009 accessory line-up, Softspikes has once again revolutionized the golf cleat market with the launch of Black Widow Tour, golf’s first “self-adjusting” cleat, enabling golfers to custom match their golf cleats to their swing, balance and weight distribution. In returning to its Black Widow® roots, the Black Widow Tour cleats follow in the Softspikes heritage of providing extreme traction and comfort, combined with ultimate green-friendliness, by taking the Company’s proprietary technologies to the next level in offering golf’s first adjustable cleat.
Complementing the new cleat introduction is the debut of Softspikes ClubGrip, the first-ever golf “grip wrap” to enter the market, and which conforms to USGA rules. Designed to provide superior tack, more comfort and greater absorbency than traditional grips, the new Softspikes ClubGrip allows golfers to enhance their grips for a fraction of the cost, and in less than half the time spent on traditional re-gripping. The Softspikes ClubGrip brings a cost effective solution to the golf grip market without compromising performance, as the product offers the same feel, durability and cushioning of today’s high-performance grips, yet requires no tools for the re-gripping process.
Also debuting in the Company’s 2009 accessory line is the “first-of-its-kind” Softspikes Golf Ball Alignment Tool, the only tool that marks both sides of the ball, while offering unique features to promote proper swing techniques. The new tool incorporates a proprietary spring mechanism into the design which holds the ball in place and enables golfers to easily mark each side of the ball without having to re-position the tool. Additional features include a new putter squareness line developed to enable golfers to keep the putter face square through impact, and a swing path reminder line that helps promote a proper swing path.
Rounding out the innovations in the 2009 Softspikes accessory line is the Softspikes Push Tool, a professional grade divot tool that uses a simple push technique allowing golfers to correctly repair ball marks without damaging roots. With Softspikes having forced the ban on metal spikes at virtually every golf course in the U.S., the Company has developed the new push tool to take on the dilemma of ball marks on golf greens. According to industry research, one of the most common complaints at golf clubs nationwide is ball marks and the negative impact they have on the golf green putting surface. With the innovative Softspikes Push Tool, golfers repair a ball mark by simply “pushing” around the mark, rather than pulling up or digging into the turf. This technique does not damage the roots and allows the mark to heal quicker than ever, improving play and saving golf courses millions in green repair costs.
The new Softspikes accessory line is perfectly complemented by its PrideSports golf tee business, led by the Professional Tee System® (PTS), golf’s #1 selling tee brand. In January, PrideSports unveiled an innovative new alternative golf tee with the launch of PTS Offset™, the first plastic golf tee to feature a 30-degree offset angle, and “the most advanced tee allowed by the USGA.” The proprietary new offset design was developed to increase ball visibility, while creating contact with the club at its maximum speed and optimum trajectory, resulting in longer drives.
