March 3, 2009 (Oakbrook Terrace, IL) Zero Friction staff player Mark Wilson took home a victory at the Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun on March 1st.
Wilson’s first win since the 2007 Honda Classic (which is being played this week) comes in his first season of being partnered with Excel Golf Products, Inc. and the Zero Friction brand.
Despite extremely windy conditions, Wilson was able to post rounds of 66, 64, 69, and 68 to finish at -13 for the tournament which was held at El Camaleon Golf Course. Wilson finished 2 strokes ahead of J.J. Henry (-11). The win also catapults Wilson’s FedEx Cup Standing to 23rd overall with a total of 296 points.
“Mark is exactly the kind of player that we want on our professional staff,” said John Iacono, Founder and C.E.O of Excel Golf Products, Inc. “He always puts himself in a position to play well and in this case he played well enough to win. It’s a great way for him to kick-off the 2009 season.”
The Zero Friction Performance Golf Tee has a unique three-pronged design that significantly reduces the contact area between the ball and tee at impact. The tees have also accounted for over 50 professional victories and more than 250 top-ten finishes.
Throughout the Mayakoba Classic, Mark Wilson averaged 293.5 yards per drive and hit 70.8 percent of greens in regulation.
