The Southwest and Northwest regions showed increases in precipitation compared to the same time period in 2008 along with the coldest climate patterns in 3 to 5 years. Along with the overall national drier trend, both the Northeast and Southeast were the driest in 17 and 9 years, respectively. The Southeast did not benefit from the coldest February in 2 years and the most snowfall in 3 years, even though the month proved to be the driest in 9 years. The weather very likely brought a 1% higher than expected overall gain to the Retail Industry same-store sales which will be announced on Thursday of this week.
