Company Also Captured Wins On LPGA, Champions & Nationwide Tours
BRENTWOOD, Tenn., March 9, 2009 … A recent unsubstantiated report by golf cleat manufacturer, Champ, claiming victory and plastic cleat field dominance during the Honda Classic, was proven false today by the Darrell Survey, the golf industry’s official authority for providing accurate, independent reporting of equipment usage at professional tournaments. The Darrell Survey revealed that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers at the Honda Classic, along with 70% of the field, wore PrideSports products, including Softspikes® brand cleats, the #1 Cleat on TOUR and the world’s best selling cleat brand. In addition to the Company’s domination at the Honda Classic, PrideSports also reported victories and field domination across all professional golf tours.
As part of its weekend sweep on tour, independent industry data showed that PrideSports products, highlighted by a Softspikes-brand victory, were worn by 8 of the top 10 finishers at the LPGA’s HSBC Women’s Championship. The Company also posted a Softspikes victory, along with a sweep among the top 9 finishers at the Champions Tour’s Toshiba Classic, as well as a win at the Nationwide Tour’s HSBC New Zealand Open.
“The golf industry’s leading independent research firm has once again proven that players across all professional tours, including the weekly leaderboards, overwhelmingly choose PrideSports and Softspikes,” said Joe Zeller, President, PrideSports. “Each week, the numbers speak for themselves and are backed by our Softspikes-arsenal, including the new Black Widow Tour self-adjusting golf cleat. We expect the professional golf community, as well as consumers on a worldwide scale, will continue to demand the best cleat products in the game today.”
In addition to the Company’s cleat domination, PrideSports’ patented Fast-Twist® Insert System was featured in more than 70% of the shoes worn by players during the Honda Classic. The #1 insert system on the PGA TOUR, Fast-Twist is the overwhelming choice by golf footwear manufacturers, as 8 out of the top 10 leading companies utilize the revolutionary golf cleat insert system as original equipment, including market leader FootJoy, as well as adidas, Bite, Bridgestone, Callaway, Etonic and Oakley.
PrideSports was formed in January 2003 following Pride Manufacturing Company’s purchase of Softspikes, Inc., and its sister company Trisport, Ltd. of England. This acquisition essentially formed the world’s premier golf accessories company, as Pride and Softspikes are the world’s leading golf tee and golf cleat lines, respectively. Today, PrideSports is the world leader in the design and manufacture of cleats, spikes and receptacles for the entire golf footwear industry.
