The No. 1 selling utility metal in golf now features exclusive Triple Weighting System
Carlsbad, CA (March 6, 2009) – Drawing on the success of the award-winning, dual-weighted Baffler DWS, Cobra Golf advances the industry’s best selling line of utility metals with the new 2009 King Cobra Baffler TWS. Cobra engineers took the science of developing superior performing utility metals to a new level, incorporating a Triple Weighting System that adds a third weight to provide the optimal balance of higher Moment of Inertia (MOI) and lower Center of Gravity (CG). The result is the best performing Baffler Cobra has ever made.
“The Cobra Baffler has been the best-selling utility on the market since March of 2006, providing players with unmatched performance from a variety of lies,” said Brian Zender, General Manager of Cobra Golf. “The new Baffler TWS is designed for players seeking a versatile, easy-to-hit alternative to long irons. We’ve taken the previous Bafflers’ proven technologies and made them even better.”
The original Baffler, first launched in 1975, represented the first utility metal in the retail marketplace. The new King Cobra Baffler TWS utility metals continue this tradition by providing golfers of all skill levels a versatile and forgiving utility club that offers higher trajectory, longer distance and greater accuracy.
“The new Baffler TWS improves and enhances the performance of Cobra’s industry-leading Baffler utility,” said Tom Preece, Vice President of Cobra Club Research and Development. “We’ve lowered the CG location to create a slightly higher launch angle and increased the MOI for even greater forgiveness and consistency across the entire hitting area. The face area has also been made slightly larger to drive higher ball speeds on off-center hits. And the contoured sole design insures that the Baffler’s unique blend of forgiveness, playability, and versatility remains unmatched.”
Baffler TWS Technology
The new Baffler TWS features Cobra’s best-selling design that combines the high launch, forgiveness and distance of a fairway metal with the playability and control of an iron, as well as new features designed to take a golfer’s game to the next level — including the innovative Triple Weighting System (TWS) and fastback crown design.
Triple Weighting System (TWS):
Weight is pushed back and to the periphery for a deep CG and increased MOI, promoting higher launch and more forgiveness.
Large Face Area with a Thin 275 Maraging Steel Face Insert*:
The large face helps maintain ball speed on off-center hits, and adds playability in the rough. The plasma-welded face insert maximizes ball speed across the entire face.
Fastback Crown Design:
Shifts CG low and back for higher launch.
Contour Sole:
Improved versatility for a wide range of lies and playing conditions.
Premium Aldila DVS-HL shafts:
Optimizes launch and trajectory.
The Baffler TWS Utility Metals will begin shipping March 9 with a suggested retail price of $175 (graphite shaft only). The stock grip is the Cobra/Golf Pride New Decade.
