J.B. Holmes and Chris DiMarco leave The Honda Classic as Kodak Challenge co-leaders

March 10, 2009

March 8, 2009 – J.B. Holmes took over the Kodak Challenge lead with a birdie on Thursday and was then able to sit back and watch most players struggle on the seventh Kodak Challenge hole the rest of the weekend. Chris DiMarco, who entered The Honda Classic as one of seven players tied for first, had to work a bit harder to join Holmes on the top of the leaderboard. DiMarco bogeyed the 16th hole on Thursday which dropped him into a tie for third place. However, Friday’s par moved him into second and a birdie on Saturday propelled him back in first. Several newcomers pulled into second place and some big name players including Ernie Els, Justin Leonard, K.J. Choi and Zach Johnson are tied for third. Stay tuned for more Kodak Challenge action next week!

About the Kodak Challenge Hole: #16

Redesigned by Jack Nicklaus, the 16th hole at PGA National Champion Course is a 434 yard par-4 with a dogleg right around a body of water, bordered by a bunker. Off the tee, the fairway slopes toward the water on the right, however, it’s no easier if a pro plays it safe by staying left. Last year, the hole recorded zero eagles, 45 birdies, 294 pars, 77 bogeys and 21 double bogeys.
