Orlando, Fla., (March 10, 2009) – Golfweek, the most authoritative, authentic and independent name in golf, finished the Florida leg of its popular 2009 Golfest series on a high note with the success of Golfweek’s Golfest at The Villages, held March 6-7 at The Villages Polo Fields. As the nation’s largest outdoor golf lifestyle extravaganza, Golfweek’s Golfest attracts thousands of golfers to its events annually, including this year’s record-breaking turnout of 8,300 attendees at The Villages alone.
“Golfweek’s Golfest was a great success thanks to the companies, players and enthusiasts who came out to share their love of the game,” said Armand Cimaroli, Golfweek’s director of events. “Every year Golfweek’s Golfest is bigger and better than the year before, and we look forward to continuing to grow the series even more in the future.”
Presented by Winn Grips, the exciting event series drew in a combined total of more than 12,000 attendees on its 2009 Florida tour, which kicked off in January with the return of Golfweek’s Golfest Orlando, held just days before the PGA Merchandise Show at Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge. Highlights from both events included hundreds of free golf lessons courtesy of the North Florida PGA, demonstrations by Re/Max Long Drive Champions Jamie Sadlowski and Jason Zuback, prize drawings, golf retail tents with onsite sales assistance and appearances by golf greats like World Golf Hall of Fame member Carol Mann, LPGA legend Jan Stephenson and world-renowned instructor Jim McLean, as well as a host of other entertainment, games and contests.
In addition to enjoying golf clinics and celebrity entertainment, attendees also had the opportunity to donate to the “Grow the Game with Golfweek and The First Tee” – a grassroots fundraiser that helps perpetuate the game of golf by supporting the youth-serving programs of The First Tee.
“Golfweek’s Golfest is so much more than a demo day,” said Terry Olson, vice president and publisher of Golfweek. “It’s an outlet for customers to purchase the latest golf technology and an opportunity for them stay ahead of the curve in all things golf. From the festival atmosphere to the interactive clinics, Golfweek’s Golfest gives golfers of all levels a truly unique experience.”
