Latest Shoe in the TOUR360 Collection Utilizes 50 / 50 Protect Technology to Elevate Performance and Improve Comfort.
CARLSBAD, Calif. (March 12, 2009)- adidas Golf, the choice of hundreds of professional golfers around the world, has introduced the TOUR360 SPORT, a highly-breathable and protective shoe in the TOUR360 family that delivers a new level of fit and versatility to golfers that want more out of their performance footwear.
Like the TOUR360, TOUR360 II, TOUR360 3.0 and TOUR360 LTD before it, the TOUR 360 SPORT incorporates adidas Golf’s innovative 360WRAP support system, a visible technology that encircles the foot to deliver a customized fit while increasing stability and leverage. Setting the TOUR360 SPORT apart from other shoes in the TOUR360 family is its mesh-based upper construction and a proprietary technology called 50/50 Protect, which combines a water-resistant TPU shield to protect the lower-half of the foot from outside elements and a lightweight and highly breathable air-mesh top-half. The result is improved temperature management, flexibility, comfort and a bold, athletic look.
“Mesh shoes are not entirely new in golf footwear,” said Dave Ortley, Global Senior Director of Footwear for adidas Golf, “but historically they’ve been largely unsuccessful for two main reasons. 1. Wet and muddy conditions pose a nuisance problem for non-waterproof textile based shoes. 2. Mesh shoes have lacked the stability required to support the foot fully throughout the golfswing.
Our goal was to overcome these two significant hurdles in an effort to deliver the same type of benefits to the foot as our ClimaCool® apparel has for the body. 50/50 Protect technology has done just that by protecting the bottom half of the foot completely from moisture and debris while simultaneously stabilizing the upper through an innovative and waterproof TPU shield which surround the foot in full.”
The TOUR360 SPORT shoe also incorporates a variety of additional technologies developed to enhance comfort and performance: THiNTech – a one-piece TPU sole that positions the foot closer to the ground for greater feedback; POWERBAND CHASSIS with 10-cleat TRAXION® configuration – for enhanced grip and leverage; 3D FitFOAM™ inlay sole – for improved lateral stability, support and comfort; adiPRENE® – for added cushioning for improved energy management; and X-STATIC® – silver fibers with thermodynamic properties located in the collar and inner lining help regulate temperature for a more comfortable fit.
The TOUR360 SPORT is a unique collaboration of modern, athletic design and cutting-edge performance technologies that keep the foot cool and dry and the athlete focused.
TOUR360 SPORT is offered in both Men’s and Women’s, each in their own colorways: (Men’s) Running White / Black / Victory Red, Cyan / Cyber Metallic / Black, Black / Black / Metallic Silver and (Women’s) Echo Blue / Metallic Silver / Dark Silver Metallic. TOUR360 SPORT carries a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $160 and is available at retailers February 1, 2009.
