EL SEGUNDO, CA-Golf, as far as equipment sales, golf ball sales and number of rounds played needs a stimulus package or bail out. But not junior golf! No bailout or stimulus package needed for Total Golf Adventures, The Premier Junior Golf Program for K-8th grade students and the only national at-school, after school golf enrichment program for K-8th grade students.
“We were nervous, like everyone else, about the impact the down economy would have on our business,” says Joshua Jacobs, founder and president of this six-year-old, highly-recognized program. “So far, even into the first quarter of 2009, most of our 42 territory owners are reporting either that their enrollment figures are holding their own as compared to last year or they are ahead of a year ago in our parent-funded programs. Additionally, we have also seen an increase in the number of grant and privately-funded programs we’ve been asked to run.”
Steve Tanner, TGA’s COO believes that the nature of TGA’s business accounts for the stability, “Since most of our programs are conducted on campus during the after school time period, it is extremely convenient for parents – especially those who have to work longer hours. The fact that students can learn golf with TGA for fees that are only slightly higher than most after-care programs makes it a no-brainer for parents. They put their kids into a program, at their school that teaches a lifelong game with so many life values, educational aspects, and physical fitness components.”
Adds Jacobs: “It was a great honor for TGA to win the ING Awards for Business Achievement and Player Development in 2008, I believe that these awards, coupled with our company growth amidst a deep recession, speak volumes about the effectiveness of our program, the quality and sustainability of our business model, and most importantly, the dedication and productivity of our franchisees and their instructors. We are expecting new franchises in Houston Cleveland, and Long Island, NY and are on target to hit 50 territories and over 75,000, K-8th grade students by the end of 2009.”
Total Golf Adventures (TGA) was founded in 2003 with a mission to provide America’s youth with access into the game of golf through programs that build life value, instill confidence through achievement, and offer and fun and educational experience.
TGA is one of the fastest-growing sports franchises and junior golf companies because the traditional barriers of convenience and cost that prevent 90% of children from playing golf are eliminated when golf is brought to the schools.
TGA’s 5 Level Golf Enrichment Program, developed by golf professionals and education experts, teaches the fundamentals, rules and etiquette of golf, while promoting golf’s life values through its character development initiative, “Play the Fair Way with TGA.” TGA transitions students from their schools to the golf course by offering camps, tournaments, clinics and private lessons.
TGA supplies its territory owners with a turn key business solution and all the tools they need to succeed while building a strong base of corporate supporters that supply a variety of services and products to TGA territories. Already participating with TGA are Nicklaus Golf Equipment, the official provider of junior golf clubs, Garb, Inc., the official provider of apparel for participants and staff and Staples®, the official print solution supplier for TGA.
Total Golf Adventures is endorsed and named as the official junior golf initiative by the National High School Golf Coaches Association (NHSGCA) and the Golf Range Association of America (GRAA); is a national supporting organization of the After School Alliance and Lights on AfterSchool, and is a corporate advocate and a partner of the President’s Challenge on Physical Fitness.
