CULVER CITY, CA – The 2009 almostGOLF College Tour kicked off with the 2nd Annual Tri Delta Sorority almostGOLF Tournament at Loyola Marymount University and raised over $5,000 to benefit St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
The Epsilon Zeta chapter of Delta Delta Delta raises money for St. Jude’s through various philanthropic events. Their annual almostGolf Tournament transforms LMU’s Sunken Gardens and Alumni Mall into a full fledge day of golf including driving range, skills challenge and short course set up throughout the campus where students and parents can play a fun round of golf for a good cause.
This year saw a record turnout with over 350 students, parents, faculty and friends coming out to participate in this unique charity golf event. Event chairperson Bri Berlin noted “We were extremely pleased with the participation and support for our charitable event this year. By hosting our event with almostGOLF directly on campus it allows more people the opportunity to come out and play”.
Since almostGOLF’s revolutionary ball has successfully broken the safety barrier, it has made it possible to ‘leave the golf course’ and bring the game of golf to new audiences and locations. “The almostGOLF College Tour is the first ever golf tour that does what traditional golf has never been able to do…bring golf directly onto campus”, says Teddy Durkin, COO of almostGOLF “The Tri Delta Sorority does a great job with their philanthropy effort and we look forward to our continued partnership to grow this event in years to come,”.
almostGOLF, LLC, maker of the #1 Off Course Ball In Golf, launched its series of college campus events in 2008 with the goal to grow the game of golf by helping college golf clubs and other student organizations increase their membership and involvement through on campus events and education.
almostGOLF has developed several on campus events using our patented almostGOLF ball because it combines tour quality flight characteristics with safety unmatched by any other ball on the market as well as only requiring a small space to create an event close to the student center. Schools visited so far have reported increased club membership, participation and a growing interest in the game of golf.
