Mesa, AZ – Dixon Golf, manufacturer of the World’s 1st High-Performance Eco-Friendly golf ball, has agreed to be the Official Green Equipment Sponsor of The Akridge Save the Bay Classic. The event will be held Tuesday, May 5th at Queenstown Harbor in Queenstown, Maryland. Queenstown Harbor is a leader in environmentally sensitive approaches to golf course design and management as well as an Audubon International certified course.
The event supports the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) which was “green” before green was fashionable and is one of the first organizations to host a tournament centered on environmentally sustainable golf. The event raises awareness and proceeds from the tournament will support the restoration and protection of the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers and streams so that our children may enjoy it as we do. CBF is the leading advocate for igniting change in the watershed, educating our children as future Bay stewards, and restoring vital habitat.
The Chesapeake Bay watershed is 64,000 square miles and has 11,600 miles of tidal shoreline, including tidal wetlands and islands. The watershed encompasses parts of six states. Approximately 17 million people live in the watershed; about 10 million people live along its shores or near them.
The best-known animal in the watershed is the blue crab, but many other species call this watershed home. The Chesapeake Bay provides food, water, cover, and nesting or nursery areas to more than 3,000 migratory and resident wildlife species. To learn more about the foundation please visit www.cbf.org.
Dixon Golf has set the standard for ecological and sociological concern and will continue to be the golf company that leads the industry in its fight to save the earth.
Dixon Earth – Good For The Environment…Better For Your Game!
Unlike other Golf Ball Brands who use harsh heavy-metal pollutants like tungsten, cobalt and lead, and contain non-renewable synthetic materials and compounds; the Dixon Earth golf ball is “green” to the core. The Earth core is made from a proprietary polymer that maintains the playable properties of the ball, but ensures that it is 100% renewable. Even the packaging is made from 100% recycled material. From core to cover, from packaging to production, Dixon Earth is setting a new standard in environmental consciousness.
Amazingly; Dixon didn’t have to sacrifice playability to become environmentally friendly. Just the opposite, the Dixon Earth golf ball out-performed the Nike One Platinum, Callaway Tour ix and Titleist Pro V1, in independent testing by PGA TOUR Partners Club, and received an incredible 92% Approval Rating!
