NEW YORK, NY-Golf World has announced its “College Players of the Week” for the period between March 9 and March 15. The feature will appear in the March 18th issue of Golf World.
This week’s honorees are senior Cameron Tringale of Georgia Tech and freshman Stephanie Kono of UCLA. Tringale shot a 68 in the final round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate, the day’s low score, to capture the individual title by five strokes. He has a 71.5 stroke average this season, with two wins and five top-10 finishes. He has also played every tournament since arriving at Georgia Tech in the fall of 2005.
Kono jumped from 12th to first place in the final round of the UCF Challenge, making four birdies over the final seven holes. Her closing 66 gave her an eight-under 208, outpacing the 36-hole leader Jessica Yadloczky of Florida by one stroke. Kono leads the team with a 71.45 stroke average and has yet to finish outside the top-20 in any collegiate start to date.
Golf World’s “College Players of the Week” section highlights a male and a female who have demonstrated outstanding individual play during a seven day period.
