North Stonington, Conn., March 19, 2009 – Lake of Isles’ North Course, a Rees Jones design, was voted No. 1 in Connecticut on Golfweek’s 2009 state-by-state list of “America’s Best Courses You Can Play.” This is the North Course’s third appearance as No. 1 in the state.

“It is an honor to be named as the best course in the state for the third consecutive year,” said Archie Cart, Lake of Isles General Manager. “We take great pride in providing our guests with the ultimate experience from pristine course conditions to five-star service. The Mashantucket Pequot Nation’s commitment to quality has paved the way for the growth we continue to experience today at Lake of Isles. This recognition from the national golf media means a lot to the tribe as well as the entire Troon Golf team at Lake of Isles.”

Golfweek’s state-by-state rankings appeared in the magazine’s March 14, 2000 issue. The rankings are based on Golfweek’s panel of raters that evaluates courses using the following criteria: overall strength of routing, feature shaping, natural setting, greens, variety and memorability of holes, conditioning and maintenance, and landscape management.

The North Course is a par-72 layout that stretches more than 7,300 yards from the championship tees. The course features rolling fairways, island tees and greens and extraordinary views, which blend nicely with the incredible natural landscape. The North is open to guests of Foxwoods Resort Casino and daily-fee golfers. Green fees range from $120 to $195 and includes a cart, range balls, yardage book, bag tag, divot tool, marker and tees.

Lake of Isles North Course is scheduled to open for the season April 1. New for 2009, is the Grand Golf package. The golf package includes one round of golf on the award-winning North Course, one night lodging at the new MGM Grand at Foxwoods with a special price starting at $200 per person.

Lake of Isles, a 36-hole Rees Jones-designed golf club located in North Stonington, Connecticut, opened in May 2005. Owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and located across the street from Foxwoods Resort Casino, the two courses wind their way through 900 acres of wooded Connecticut countryside and around a 90-acre lake. Managed by Troon Golf, the worldwide leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing, Lake of Isles offers the ultimate golf experience. In addition to superior service and impeccable course conditions, amenities include a 50,000 sq. ft. clubhouse, a state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor practice facility.
