NEW BEDFORD, Mass., March 23, 2009 – AHEAD’s Retief Goosen won the Transitions Championship at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla., sporting the company’s popular line of eco-friendly polos during tournament week.
“Retief started wearing polos from the eco-friendly collection as soon as they were available last fall,” said Jeff Waller, national sales director, AHEAD. “The polos are very comfortable and feature a moisture wicking and odor management system along with a UPF rating ranging from 30-50+. Retief receives a lot of accolades for his look and style on the course, making him a wonderful representative for the brand. Retief has told us that the fabric in the eco-shirts is some of the most comfortable fabric he has ever worn. With Retief’s nickname we like to think it took a Goose to bring eco-friendly apparel to the winners circle on the PGA Tour”
Goosen, a two-time major champion, won twice last fall in South Africa and Asia but this was his first PGA Tour victory since 2005. On Sunday, he proudly hoisted the trophy wearing AHEAD’s eco-friendly Bamboo Charcoal Pin Dot polo (OG-01) in cobalt.
AHEAD currently offers the eco-friendly performance line in four styles for men: Bamboo Charcoal Pin Dot polo, Cocona® Mesh polo, Bamboo Charcoal Text polo, and Organic Cotton Jersey polo. Three more styles will be available June 15, 2009; Bamboo Charcoal Textured Stripe polo, Coconut Charcoal Open Stripe polo and Coconut Charcoal Vertical Drop Needle polo. The Kate Lord line offers two eco-friendly polos. The suggested retail of the eco-friendly collection for men and women ranges from $45-$70.
In addition to the eco-friendly collection for men and women, AHEAD recently introduced an eco-friendly gift pack for tournaments and outings. The one-stop shopping gift pack includes an eco-friendly polo, cap, aluminum divot tool packaged in a recycled tote bag.
“We’re finding that golfers are shopping with value on their mind. That means better products at better prices. This is one of the reasons our performance and eco-friendly collections have been such strong sellers this year in the golf shops. You can’t beat the outstanding quality for an exceptional price,” Waller said.
