Jenison, MI (March 24, 2009) – Handicomp, Inc., the elder statesman in golf software services, is pleased to announce that it has extended an agreement with the Michigan Golf Course Owners Association for it to continue to host the Michigan Golf League Championship. The Michigan Golf League Championship (www.MiGolfLeague.com) is entering its fifth year and is part of the League System mix, which includes the Golf League Network (www.GolfLeagueNetwork.com).
The Michigan Golf League Championship (Michigan GLC) serves 2-person team leagues interested in having their winners qualify for and compete in the Michigan GLC Tournament, whereas the Golf League Network (GLN) serves a wide variety of Michigan leagues, including 1-8 person team leagues and social leagues. A major component of the League System is the Internet based league management software application, which benefits league courses, league administrators (secretaries), and league golfers. In a nutshell, the League System serves league golfers by marrying leading edge Internet technology with industry market power, such as the Michigan Golf Course Owners Association. It is felt this combination is best able to grow the game of golf and further cultivate the social aspect of the game by promoting the theme “Golf is Fun”.
Kate Moore, the Executive Director of the MGCOA says, “We are very pleased to continue hosting the Michigan Golf League Championship. We began in 2004 with a vision, held our first championship tournament in 2005, we’ve seen growth every year we’ve been involved, and now we’re really beginning to see fruition as this year we’ve already registered more Michigan leagues than we did all of last season. Not to mention, having Rick Smith join our effort is frosting on the cake.”
According to Stewart Healey, President of Handicomp, “We consider our relationship with the MGCOA as a special one that stands apart. The Golf League Championship would never have gotten off the ground the way it did without a committed partner, and the MGCOA fit the bill perfectly. They’ve shared our vision and they’ve had the right kind of patience to see a project of this variety through to success. Our hope is that we will have many more renewals of this joint venture with the MGCOA.”
