Bail Out Or Stimulus Package Not Needed For Total Golf Adventures In Orange County Thanks To Strong Growth

March 26, 2009

NORTH ORANGE COUNTY, CA- Robert Barretto doesn’t want a bailout from Washington…he did one better by winning his stimulus package for his Total Golf Adventures Golf franchise from the Newport-Mesa Unified School District, Tustin Unified School District and surrounding private schools where students in PK-8th grades will be able to take advantage of the country’s only at-school, after-school golf enrichment program.

“My territory has been blessed by being the recipient of grants from Project Success in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District, which will now enable more than 360 youngsters the opportunity to learn golf. An additional 200 plus participants comprised of students from parent pay programs at more than a dozen private schools and another eight schools from the Tustin Unified School District also help to the success of my program. All of these fortunate youths will be exposed to the five-level program that earned Total Golf Adventures two major awards in the golf industry,” Barretto proudly comments.

“In fact, our growth has been quite strong…I’m increasing my programs in 5 to 10 new schools every school semester. The Tustin Unified School district had been tough for us to break into, but we did it and now we are growing into nearly 16 schools from elementary to middle schools by the fall of 2009.”

“Total Golf Adventures is one of the more exciting programs we’ve seen,” Julpha Dormitorio, Project Success Administrator,” says proudly. “We were looking for something different for our youngsters, something unique and something out of the ordinary. Total Golf Adventures fits our needs. Our first exposure with them was so successful that we gladly expanded the program.

TGA’s program attracted our attention because it was not just a golf or normal sports program. The TGA curriculum also focused on character development, life values and self-esteem wrapped around education components including math and most importantly, having fun. Those ingredients were the tipping point for us,” she adds. “The students took to it immediately because it was different, fun and new. Many times our students finish their work; maybe participate in an after-school program and leave. The young golfers in TGA don’t want to leave school.”

“The parents were a little apprehensive at first about after school programs because they just wanted their child to come home and finish their homework. But that has changed. Now when the parents see the happiness, enthusiasm and personalities of their children, they are coming aboard with TGA and other programs.”

With Orange County being such a hot bed for golf, TGA has two franchisees in the country: North County, which includes school districts: Newport-Mesa, Tustin, Orange, Placentia/Linda, Fullerton and Anaheim. In South County, school districts include: Saddleback Valley Unified, Irvine Unified and Newport-Mesa Unified.

“The impact on youth lives in Orange County that Robert has achieved in such a short amount of time is truly amazing…especially in this economy. We thought we would see a down turn in our enrollment figures and lower grant funds, but so far most of our 42 territory owners are reporting that either their enrollment figures are holding their own as compared to last year or they are slightly ahead of a year ago,” says Joshua Jacobs, founder and president of this six-year-old, highly-recognized program.

Total Golf Adventures (TGA) was founded in 2003 with a mission to provide America’s youth with access into the game of golf through programs that build life value, instill confidence through achievement, and offer and fun and educational experience.

Total Golf Adventures is endorsed and named as the official junior golf initiative by the National High School Golf Coaches Association (NHSGCA) and the Golf Range Association of America (GRAA); is a national supporting organization of the After School Alliance and Lights on AfterSchool, and is a corporate advocate and a partner of the President’s Challenge on Physical Fitness.

TGA’s programs extend beyond learning the game of golf and honing the golf swing. A child’s passion for the game of golf grows with a program that expands and improves their motor skills and coordination, encourages their advancement, and builds their confidence and self-esteem. TGA’s 5 Level Program uses curriculums developed by PGA and LPGA Golf Professionals and child development and education experts. Their input has ensured that TGA’s curriculums reinforce educational concepts such as arithmetic and reading, while teaching golf. In addition, the TGA program promotes and teaches golf’s life values intrinsic to the game of golf through their unique character development initiative:

Respect – for the game, their partners, and the golf course

Responsibility – fundamental to the TGA curriculum

Integrity – for the game and in all aspects of life

Sportsmanship – classes include competition and skills contests that are rewarded in every class

Citizenship – at school, home and on the golf course

TGA supplies its Territory Owners with the tools they need to succeed through building a strong corporate base of supporters which supply a variety of services and products to TGA territories.
