Søren Kjeldsen, who recently signed with Cleveland Golf, held on and secured a victory at the Open de Andalucia de Golf 09. Kjeldsen, who is the current Volvo Masters Champion, joins a list of world class players who have won the title, including Cleveland Golf’s very own Vijay Singh, who won back in 1992.
Kjeldsen’s rounds of 68, 72, 62 and 72 gave him a total of 274 to win the tournament by three shots. The victory capped a thrilling week, which saw him secure a new course record with a career-best third round of 62 at the Real Club de Golf in Seville, Spain.
The victory helped Kjeldsen break into the top 15 in the Race to Dubai, placing him just outside the top-40 in the world rankings and earning him a debut at the Masters Tournament, which starts on April 9th.
In his interview, Kjeldsen said “To be honest, I was very nervous all day, I knew it was going to be a tough day and it was. But I never lost patience and belief.”
