Axion Golf to Support ‘Green’ Business Partnership Between Axion International and Ecological Development, LLC

March 31, 2009

Recently-Launched Division to Scale Platform, Technology to Local and State Government Golf-Course Projects

(BASKING RIDGE, NJ) – Axion Golf – the recently-launched division of Axion International Holdings, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: AXIH) and provider of 100-percent recycled materials for building vehicular and pedestrian bridges, boardwalks and landscaping features – will support the “green” business partnership between its parent company and Ecological Development LLC (“Ecological”) by scaling the platform and technology to golf-course projects at the local and state government levels.

Ecological provides green retrofitting solutions by utilizing best-in-class software technology and cutting-edge green products to reduce energy consumption, decrease greenhouse gas emissions and efficiently manage a building’s impact on all environmental systems. The firm’s impressive management team includes co-founder and board member George Pataki, former three-term Governor of New York State. Use of Ecological’s assets dovetails with Axion Golf’s mission to provide golf courses environmentally-sound, cost-competitive and ultra-durable materials for structural building.

“Ecological will introduce Axion and its products to its extensive contact database,” says James Kerstein, Chief Executive Officer of Axion. “Approximately 3,500 courses across the country are government-owned or operated and we are confident our golf division can be a major asset and green partner in meeting their building requirements in a cost-effective, eco-friendly manner.”

Axion International Holdings Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: AXIH) entered the golf industry in fall 2008 after almost a decade of its materials being used for major infrastructure projects. Axion Golf’s products have earned endorsements from PGA TOUR star and noted course architect Brad Faxon, as well as Billy Casper Golf, one of America’s largest course management companies and a leading environmental steward.

The patented mechanical properties and design of Axion products cause them to rank extremely high in independent tests for durability, lasting more than 50 years with minimal wear and tear. By contrast, conventional bridges are susceptible to rotting, corrosion, leaching, cracking, rust and overall deterioration.

In addition to bridges traversing waterways, wetlands and other challenging topographies, Axion composites are used to create boardwalks, bulkheading, retaining walls and landscaping for framing walkways, cart paths, tee boxes and steps. Axion also offers free consultation to golf courses seeking specifications and design concepts.

Additional advantages of Axion structures:

Lower cost per square foot for higher quality material

Absence of toxins eliminates pollution and preserves wildlife habitat

Textured surface doesn’t absorb water for less slippage than wood (safety upgrade)

Withstand severe weather and flooding

Customized for extreme traffic and weight (golf carts, maintenance and construction vehicles)

Decor of classic and contemporary models (various surface, railing and curbing colors, textures and shapes) blend with course surroundings

Minimal color fading and looks new over time

Impervious to moisture decay, fungus and insect infestation

Quick, hassle-free installation by contractor or course staff reduces time, manpower, machinery, golfer disruption and cost

Virtually maintenance-free — no painting, staining or patching — saves on repair labor and downtime

About Axion International

In conjunction with scientists from Rutgers University, Axion developed patented technologies which convert 100-percent recycled consumer and industrial materials — waste otherwise destined for landfills — into structural products used in commercial applications. These super-polymer composites are extremely strong, flexible in use, long-lasting, low maintenance and cost-effective. For these reasons, the U.S. Army recently selected Axion bridges to carry its heavily-armored tanks. Operating from a “green” base with a “no-trees-cut-down” mentality, Axion management has more than 100 years in the plastics industry.
