PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., April 2, 2009  The EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association) Foundation will host its 7th annual fundraising event in support of the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program during the 2009 U.S. Women’s Open Championship in Pennsylvania this coming July.

In its seventh year, the EWGA at the U.S. Women’s Open charity golf tournament and fundraiser will be held at the Riverview Country Club in Easton, PA. on Friday, July 10. The U.S. Women’s Open Championship takes place at the nearby Sauçon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem on July 9 -12.

Open to the public, the EWGA girls golf fundraiser includes a 1 pm shotgun four-person team tournament (shamble format) with box lunch, awards banquet, silent auction and gift bag. The full day price is $165 per person and cost for the banquet and silent auction only is $75 per person. Registration is available online at www.ewga.com or contact Nancy Matus at 561-691-0096 ext. 14.

“This annual event has become a tradition – bringing together EWGA members and other supporters of girls golf throughout the country during the most prestigious women’s golf championship,” says Margaret Downey, the president of the EWGA Foundation. “We are proud of our fundraising achievements and ongoing commitment to future generations.”

Numerous levels of sponsorship are available for every budget along with tee signs and corporate foursomes. In-kind donations for auction and drawing prizes are also welcome. See www.ewga.com under Events or contact Ashley Nelson at sponsorship@myewga.com .

Proceeds raised from this EWGA Foundation event will support LPGA-USGA Girls Golf (Girls Golf). Over the past six years, the EWGA Foundation, through EWGA chapters and association-wide fundraising efforts, has raised nearly $400,000 in support of Girls Golf, one of the EWGA Foundation’s designated charities. The EWGA Foundation also provides EWGA members who serve as mentors and volunteer in various capacities at more than 40 Girls Golf sites, making the EWGA one of the largest single contributors to the Girls Golf program aside from the USGA.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2009, LPGA-USGA Girls Golf was formed to connect girls, ages 7 to 17, to the game of golf. A developmental junior golf program and the only national initiative of its kind, Girls Golf presents an opportunity for girls to make lasting friendships, gain self-confidence, learn to compete and have fun, while fostering a lifetime of enjoyment for the game.

Girls Golf, with nearly 200 sites around the country and more that 60,000 participants since its inception in 1989, is administered through a partnership between The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Foundation and the United States Golf Association (USGA), both 501(c)(3) charitable organizations. – continued –

The EWGA Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization, a separate legal entity formed and supported by the Executive Women’s Golf Association. Its mission is to create and fund education and leadership programs for women of all ages. In addition to its fundraising support of LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, EWGA Foundation initiatives also include: financial support for the development and refinement of the EWGA Golf Education curriculum; financial support to bring speakers with expertise in leadership development training and facilitation to EWGA meetings and gatherings; Drive for Dreams outreach program to ‘give the gift of golf’ and the Women On Par® scholarship program.
