(VIENNA, VA) – Marking its initial foray in Nevada and increasing its presence to 25 states, golf-course owner / operator Billy Casper Golf (“BCG”) has been selected to manage the storied Desert Rose Golf Course, just minutes east of the famed Las Vegas Strip.
Under the multi-year agreement, BCG will turnkey all aspects of Desert Rose’s golf course and property maintenance, staffing and training, clubhouse operations, food and beverage, merchandising, golf instruction, marketing and public relations, special events and financial management.
Designed in 1964 by renowned golf-course architects Joe Lee and Dick Wilson, Desert Rose is well known in Nevada for hosting the annual Clark County Amateur tournament with current PGA TOUR members Craig Barlow and Robert Gamez as past champions.
“Clark County is impressed with Billy Casper Golf’s management experience and reputation in operating golf courses across the country,” says Steven R. Corry, Assistant Director of Clark County Parks and Recreation. “Billy Casper Golf is highly rated by players at the courses the group maintains and we look forward to how the company will manage and serve the public at Desert Rose.”
“The great tradition of Desert Rose represents the perfect opportunity for Billy Casper Golf’s entry into Nevada,” says Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of BCG. “The strong, player-friendly layout, combined with our sound management practices, will benefit both golfers and the County’s resources.”
Desert Rose’s classic design, at par 71 and 6,511 yards, is a shot-making test for golfers of all skill levels. Bermuda-grass fairways funnel golfers to challenges of accurate approach shots into well-guarded, undulating greens. The behemoth 607-yard, par 5 No. 4 hole is legendary for the mental toughness required to avoid the ball-gobbling water hazard on the right. Golfers rave about the beauty of the surrounding mountains dappled with magenta sunlight come dusk.
A driving range, chipping area and putting green satisfy golfers’ practice regimens. The clubhouse offers a well-stocked pro shop and full-service restaurant and bar, making Desert Rose a preferred location for golf outings and special events.
