Arizona State Replaces UCLA as Top Team in D-I Poll
NEW YORK, NY-The fourth Golf World/NGCA Division I Coaches’ Poll of the spring season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II and III, will appear in the April 27 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now at www.golfworld.com.
Arizona State is the new number one team in the D-I poll, overtaking UCLA and earning 12 of the 22 first-place votes. The Sun Devils finished third at their home event, the Ping/ASU Invitational, and will compete in the Pac-10 Championship this weekend at Stanford Golf Club in Palo Alto, Calif.
Rounding out the top-five are UCLA (No. 2), Southern California (No. 3), Oklahoma State (No. 4) and Virginia (No. 5). UCLA received the remaining 10 first-place votes.
There are no new teams in the top-10. Arizona returns to the top-25 at No. 23 and New Mexico, fresh off its win at the Mountain West Conference Championship, enters at No. 25.
