Georgia Retains Top Spot in D-I Poll
NEW YORK, NY-The fourth Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll of the spring season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III and the NAIA, will appear in the April 27th issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now at www.golfworld.com.
Georgia remains the number one team in the poll, earning 20 of the 24 first-place votes. The Bulldogs claimed the SEC Championship in convincing fashion this past weekend, winning the conference title by 13 strokes. It was the sixth title under head coach Chris Haack and the 27th in school history. It was also Georgia’s fifth win of the 2008-09 season.
Rounding out the top-five are Oklahoma State (No. 2), Southern California (No. 3), Clemson (No. 4) and Stanford (No. 5).
There are no new teams in the top-10; UCLA (No. 19) moved into the top-25.
