Jerry Kelly Captures Zurich Classic Playing New Pro V1x for First Time

Fairhaven, MA (April 27, 2009) – Week in and week out, the overwhelming majority of players trust their game to Titleist, and that trust is rewarded with more wins than all other golf balls combined. This week, Jerry Kelly’s trust in the New Pro V1x for the first time in competition, put him in the winner’s circle for the third time in his career.

A longtime Titleist golf ball loyalist, Kelly tested and switched to the New 2009 Pro V1x earlier in the week, and then captured the Zurich Classic of New Orleans by one shot. Kelly, who posted a final round 1-under 71 to finish at 14-under 274, topped three players, including Charlie Wi (New 2009 Pro V1), by one shot. David Toms (New 2009 Pro V1) and Steve Marino (Pro V1x) tied for 5th place, another shot back. It marks the third career PGA TOUR title for Kelly, whose previous victories came in 2002, when he won both the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Advil Western Open.

Statistically, Kelly topped all players in Greens in Regulation, hitting nearly 80 percent. Meanwhile, Titleist Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker continues his torrid pace this year, finishing T7 to mark his fifth Top 10 finish of the year.

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with 106 players (68%), compared to 19 for the nearest competitor. Kelly’s win marks the 11th by Titleist golf ball players on the 2009 PGA TOUR, nearly four times the nearest competitor with 3. In fact, 8 of the top 10 finishers trusted Titleist golf balls for their success. Titleist was also first in iron sets (47), wedges (157) and putters (63). The champion also played a Titleist 906F4 3-wood (13.0) for his success.

WORLDWIDE WINS: Titleist Brand Ambassador Mauricio Molina (New ProV1x , 907D2 driver, 906F 3 and 5 woods, AP1 irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled sand and lob wedges) posted a victory on the Canadian PGA Tour, giving Titleist players two victories this week. The wins advance the 2009 worldwide win count to 44, more than three times the nearest competitor with 12, and more than all other golf balls combined.
