New Tiger Shark GreenSpeed Putter Breaks Through on PGA TOUR

Tiger Shark Golf’s new GreenSpeed putter was put into play for the first time on the PGA Tour at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans this past week. The player, who cannot be named because they are not under an endorsement contract to use the putter, used a GreenSpeed VS-3 center shafted putter with an oversized Tiger Shark Jumbo UltraTac grip. The oversized grip is designed to prohibit the breakdown of the wrists during the putting stroke.

The tour player who put the GreenSpeed into play at the Zurich Classic has made 7 of 10 cuts on the 2009 PGA Tour and is currently ranked 124th in the FedEx Cup Point standings. The player averaged one putt better per round than his season average.

Three other players at the Zurich Classic were playing SuperStroke oversized putter grips, which was acquired by Tiger Shark in January of this year. SuperStroke staff players KJ Choi and Matt Bettencourt both had good showings using their SuperStroke grips, finishing T24 and T51 respectively. Choi finished 27th in Putts Per GIR en route to his 4th Top 25 finish of the year. Another player trying out the grip for the first time averaged 26 putts per round, three putts better than his average for the 2009 season.

“We are very excited to have our first GreenSpeed putter in play on the PGA Tour,” said Tiger Shark President Dean Dingman. “The fact that it was put into play with one of our oversized Tiger Shark jumbo grips is a testament to what we are accomplishing in the marketplace. We have already had a lot of success with our oversized grips, selling over a million of the UltraTac grips in the last few years. We knew we needed to manufacture a putter that catered to tour professionals so we could take advantage of the buzz that is surrounding our oversized grips, which now includes the SuperStroke line. The combination of putter and jumbo grips has been very well received on tour and in the marketplace, and it sells for under $100.”

The GreenSpeed putter comes with a 5-gram weight installed at the factory and an additional 10 and 15 gram weight along with wrench for customizing and comes with the UltraTac grip at $79. The putter can also be had with a SuperStroke grip for $99. The new for 2009 putter just hit retail stores a few weeks ago.
