Jenison, MI (April 29, 2009) – Handicomp, Inc., the elder statesman in golf software services, is pleased to announce that Tobacco Road Golf Club in Sanford, N.C. will host the 2009 Carolinas PGA Golf League Championship Tournament on October 17. The Championship Tournament is the culminating event for participating leagues all over the Carolinas this spring and summer.
League participants in last year’s championship were awe-struck by the course and enjoyed playing in their leagues using the Golf League Network as their administration tool. The icing on the cake of course was being able to travel to Sanford, N.C. and experience the atmosphere of Tobacco Road. One of four Mike Strantz designed golf courses in the Carolinas; Tobacco Road is well-known for its varying landscapes, crater-like bunkers and mind-boggling blind shots. Tobacco Road was named the 10th toughest golf course in the United States in 2007 by Golf Digest and has been heralded as “golf’s rock-and-roll thrill-ride.”
Ron Schmid, Executive Director of the Carolinas PGA Section is looking forward to building on last year’s success and is thrilled to be taking the Carolinas PGA Golf League Championship back to Tobacco Road. “The Carolinas PGA Golf League Championship is virtually limitless when it comes to what it can do to grow the game in the Carolinas while at the same time giving the public a new way to play golf. Tobacco Road was a great host last year and I’m excited to see how many teams will have the chance to compete there this year.”
According to Stewart Healey, President of Handicomp, “We are very pleased with the energy the Carolinas PGA Section has put into building League System services for Carolinas golfers. The Carolinas PGA Golf League Championship (www.CarolinasGolfLeague.com) and Golf League Network (www.GolfLeagueNetwork.com) were designed to provide a high level, organized service to golfers who had otherwise been left to their own devices, and the CPGA has been great in promoting the vision throughout its domain. Plus, from what I hear, Tobacco Road was very well received last year as a league championship host site, and we’re pleased to see that they’re hosting again in 2009.”
