Heavy Putter Used by Runner-Up
(RIDGEFIELD, CT) – Boccieri Golf confirms that its popular Heavy Putter was used by the runner-up at the Open de España contested this past weekend at PGA Golf Catalunya in Girona, Spain.
Continuing the trend of players experiencing significant performance improvements with the Heavy Putter, the second-place finisher did not record a single three-putt en-route to a four-round total of 16-under-par 272. While ranking among the tournament leaders in both “Putts per GIR” and “Putts per Round,” his week was highlighted by a closing 65, capped by a birdie on the final hole.
The runner-up prize of ?222,220 – secured just weeks after switching to the Heavy Putter – was nearly 10 times larger than this player’s previous best payday, and surpassed his combined winnings in roughly 18 months as a full-time European Tour member prior to the Open de España.
“We’re seeing tremendous penetration on the PGA European Tour since the successful introduction of our new Heavy Putter MID-WEIGHT Series earlier this year,” says Stephen Boccieri, President and CEO of Boccieri Golf. “This momentum coincides with rapidly accelerating usage among top professionals worldwide, including winners on the PGA, Asian, Nationwide, Canadian and European Challenge Tours.”
The strong performance in Spain comes just one week after a player switched to the Heavy Putter and holed several pressure putts to capture the Champions Tour Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf.
Global popularity of the Heavy Putter stems from its unprecedented counter-balance theory of a heavier mass head and weighted grip. This causes the body to engage its larger, core muscles for greater stroke stability, consistent swing paths, uniform pace, precise distance and directional control, tightening end-over-end golf ball roll.
About the Heavy Putter
Introduced in early 2005, the Heavy Putter is now carried in all 50 states and in more than 30 overseas markets. It is found in many of the finest off-course shops and most prestigious golf courses, country clubs and resorts worldwide.
The recently released MID-WEIGHT Series features five classically designed putters each weighing 750 grams, lighter than previous Heavy Putter models but still heavier than traditional offerings. The line – three blades and two mallets – is crafted with the company’s proprietary technologies that create a consistent, pendulum-like stroke by engaging the body’s core and larger muscles.
The Heavy Putter Original, Matte and Deep Face Series models, which spawned a global following, each incorporates the company’s pioneering weighting technology, including a 475-gram head (conventional heads are 330 to 350 grams) and a 250-gram weight installed in the grip end, producing a balance point 75 percent higher than conventional putters.
