Award-Winning Teaching Professional Penny Zavichas To Hold Three-Day Golf School at Meadowlands CC

BLUE BELL, PA (May 26, 2009) – Penny Zavichas, an LPGA Master Professional and 1973 LPGA Teacher of the Year, will hold a three-day golf school at Meadowlands CC on July 8, 9 and 10. The event will be followed by a personal tour and attendance at the U.S. Women’s Open Golf Championship at Saucon Valley CC on July 11 and 12.

Zavichas, who partnered with the late Linda Craft in founding the Craft-Zavichas Golf School in Arizona after both retired from the LPGA Tour, learned golf from her aunt, LPGA Hall of Famer Babe Didrikson Zaharias. She continues to pass along that knowledge in her women’s only golf schools and has been selected as one of Golf Magazine’s Top 25 Golf Schools for eight straight years.

Zavichas and her staff of female LPGA Class A and Master Professionals will be on site at Meadowlands for this golf camp, limited to only 40 players. Entrants do not need to be a member of Meadowlands CC to participate.

The first 20 who sign up for the optional portion of the camp will get to attend the U.S. Women’s Open at Saucon Valley – with transportation, tickets and personal tour by Zavichas and her staff included.

“I have known Penny for a number of years and it is a great honor to have her come to Meadowlands,” said Meadowlands president Gilbert Benjamin. “She was a great player and now she is a great teacher. Anyone who attends this golf school also will find out that she is a great person.

“More important, this golf school gives Meadowlands CC another opportunity to open our facility to the community,” said Benjamin. “Although we are a private club with a proud tradition, part of our tradition is that we try to open our club to the community every chance we get. We are all members in the greatest club in the world, the club that is united by a love of golf. It is always rewarding when we can get together and share views and experiences.”

The price for the golf school – including three full days of teaching, green fees, cart fees, lunch with your pro, closing dinner and course play with your pro – is $1,000.

The price for the optional guided tour to the U.S. Women’s Open is $105.
