May 27, 2009 – Birmingham, AL – Honours Golf Company has announced that Evan Godfrey will serve as director of golf at Highland Park Golf Course located in Birmingham, Alabama. Honours Golf Company has managed the 18-hole public course since 1998.
Before joining the staff at Highland Park, Godfrey worked as head golf professional at Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club, another Honours Golf facility located in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
“Evan started with Honours as an intern and has consistently proven what a valuable team member he is,” said Bob Barrett, Chief Executive Officer of Honours. “Not only is Evan focused on enhancing the customer experience, but he brings with him many unique qualities and ideas that will definitely benefit the patrons of Highland Park.”
Godfrey began his career at Honours Golf as an intern at Limestone Springs Golf Course, located in Oneonta, Alabama. He later interned at Kelly Plantation Golf Club, located in Destin, Florida and Highland Park Golf Course, located in Birmingham, Alabama. Godfrey graduated from Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in business with emphasis in marketing and professional golf management. After graduation, Godfrey, a Class-A PGA Professional, moved to Gulf Shores to become head golf professional at Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club where he oversaw daily golf and tournament operations.
In his new position, Godfrey will oversee the entire golf operations as well as play an integral role in the development of Play Golf America programs, tournament operations and customer service.

Highland Park Golf Course is the oldest golf course in the state of Alabama. It originally opened in 1903 as the Lakeview Course and later became the Country Club of Birmingham, the site of one of Bobby Jones’ first victories.
