Anders Bengtson, President of World Golfers USA, announced that the Woodbridge Golf Club in Wylie, TX will hold a quaifying event for the World Golfers Championship on Aug. 10 in conjunction with the DFW Senior Tour.
James McAfee, the tournament director for the Texas association, indicated that the entry fee will be $60 and it will be open to guests with a USGA handicap index as well as members. Tee times start at 9 a.m.
The winners from five handicap categories (0-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-25) will earn spots in the United States finals, scheduled Sept. 12-13 at the Mission Inn Resort’s El Campeon and Las Colinas Courses in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL.
The winners there earn spots in the World Golfers Championship, scheduled Oct. 24-31 at the Marbella Golf Resort in Spain.
Bengtson also reminded other clubs wishing to send teams to the U.S. finals that the deadline for qualifying events will be Aug.24. The entry fee is $600. Call 214 724-1261 to sign up.
