STANWOOD, MI (May 26, 2009) – The acclaimed Tullymore Golf Club is offering a chance to win $25,000 cash and three cars at its inaugural “Ultimate Par-3 Challenge” Saturday, June 6. Radio celebrities Frank Beckmann, Tony Gates, and Michael Patrick Shiels will also challenge the field and each other at the event, which will benefit the Eagle Village facility for abused and neglected children.
The $150 entry fee includes a Friday night welcome party in Tullymore’s dazzling new 18,000 square-foot clubhouse; participation in Saturday’s “Ultimate Par-3 Challenge” with a valuable tee gift, door prizes and auction items; and Saturday night’s awards, entertainment and dinner party.
Beckmann hosts a midday radio show on WJR AM 760 in Detroit and is play-by-play announcer for the University of Michigan football broadcasts.
Gates, who won radio’s Marconi Award for Excellence earlier this year, hosts a show on WLAV FM in Grand Rapids.
Shiels, who was producer for radio legend J.P. McCarthy, now hosts his own award-winning syndicated morning radio show on WJIM AM 1240 and 10 other stations across the Michigan Talk Network.
“Everyone remembers the dramatic par-3 holes of great golf courses like Tullymore, and everyone likes the challenge of the par-3 holes,” said Shiels, who is also a prolific golf writer. “So why not just play the par-3 holes and get on with the party?”
Tullymore Golf Club at The Resorts of Tullymore & St. Ives, designed by Jim Engh in Stanwood, just west of Mount Pleasant and 45-minutes drive from Grand Rapids, is ranked among Golf Digest’s “America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses” and ranks #15 among the magazine’s “America’s 100 Greatest Public and Resort Courses.”
Nestled on over one-thousand acres of scenic hardwoods and lakes, The Resorts of Tullymore and St. Ives is the premier golf destination on central Michigan – a development which includes a village if custom-built homes, luxury condominiums, and the new Residence Club at Tullymore: an enclave of four homesteads along the 18th fairway. The Resorts feature the charming Inn at St. Ives – 44 deluxe rooms and the original St. Ives course and clubhouse.
