(CAPE CHARLES, VA) – Bay Creek Resort & Club – managed by Billy Casper Golf (“BCG”) – has introduced a Champions Card military appreciation program with reduced greens fees for members of all branches of the Armed Services.
Active members of the military can obtain a Bay Creek Champions Card – normally $80 to join – free of charge and enjoy a savings of $30 off regular rates (greens fees and cart) weekdays and $40 on weekends for the 2009 golf season.
“Community is the central theme at Bay Creek Resort & Club, and the military has a strong presence in greater Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Newport News,” says Mark Wesolek, General Manager of Bay Creek. “The new Champions Card program is our small way to give back to the men and women who serve this country in uniform every day.”
About one hour north of Norfolk, four hours southeast of Washington, D.C. and two hours east of Richmond, Bay Creek is an easy weekend getaway year-round. In addition to championship golf, Bay Creek boasts a deepwater marina, boutique shopping, exquisite dining, walking trails, beaches and the endless natural beauty of Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
With many holes along the Chesapeake Bay and Old Plantation Creek, the Nicklaus and Palmer Signature courses each provide diverse challenges for players of all skill levels. At 7,417 yards, the Nicklaus course features impeccable landscaping and is characterized by large waste bunkers and more than 100 formal bunkers. The Palmer course plays to 7,250 yards from the tips and features huge bunkers that frame the fairways and protect the large and undulating greens. The natural beauty of the property – with azaleas and roses blooming, shell cart paths, sea breezes, gulls swooping and the rare bald eagle – are a feast for the senses.
This summer, the resort will host the 2nd Bay Creek Amateur – a points event for the Virginia State Golf Association (“VSGA”) – and in 2010 Bay Creek will welcome the VSGA Virginia-West Virginia Team Matches.
Opened along with the Palmer course in 2001, the practice facilities at Bay Creek provide a great setting for player development. Whether guided by experienced PGA-certified instructors or working individually, golfers of all skill levels will benefit from the state-of-the-art range with five target greens and short game area featuring a chipping and putting green with bunkers.
The Coach House replicates a 19th century stable and houses the Bay Creek Golf Shop and Coach House Tavern. The Aqua Restaurant, located in the heart of Bay Creek’s Marina Village, is a preferred destination for weddings and other social outings.
