Caddy For A Cure offers the public the unique opportunity to go inside the ropes and caddy for the world’s best players at PGA TOUR venues while raising funds for charity. For the U.S. Open, a participant can spend the day with PGA TOUR player Todd Hamilton on the driving range, putting green and golf course, experiencing each shot first-hand and being in the middle of the action of a major PGA event. Caddy For A Cure is a non-profit organization that supports the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund and Wounded Warrior Project as well as many community charities within the PGA TOUR event markets. Participation is fully tax deductible as allowed by law.
Special guests as the Tuesday night Cold Spring CC dinner include PGA TOUR player, Todd Hamilton, and Dr. Bob Rotella. Both will be on-site in support of Caddy For A Cure and will talk about their positions and experience in the world of professional golf, as well as hold Q&A forums. The 2009 season marks Hamilton’s 6th year on the PGA TOUR where he has had two wins, including a major championship win at the 2004 British Open Championship. Dr. Bob Rotella is known internationally for his work in the area of applied sports psychology and is consistently recognized as the top Sports Psychologist in the world. Financial support will be given to the Metropolitan Section Junior Golf and First Tee programs from the proceeds of the dinner.
“We are pleased to be able to host this event at our facility for such a worthy cause,” says Jim Weiss, Cold Spring CC Head Golf Professional. He continued, “When we learned about Caddy For A Cure and saw they were participating at the U.S. Open in our backyard at Bethpage, we reached out to see what we could do to help. We have a beautiful recently renovated facility that we’re sure many people would enjoy visiting and thought a special tour of the historic Oheka Castle would be appealing, too.”
“It is such an honor to able to showcase our program and charity at such a remarkable club,” says Russ Holden, Caddy For A Cure Founder and CEO. “Jim has been absolutely amazing in his desire to help our program and in turn, to help change lives for the better. We feel it is a perfect match between our program and the facility at Cold Spring CC and are looking forward to building a long-term relationship with them.”
