SARASOTA, FLA. (June 9, 2009) – When La Quinta Resort & Club and PGA West decided to spend $10 million to improve its collection of desert golf courses, it earmarked part of the investment for a GPS system that could communicate in multiple languages. Its choice was the versatile and multi-lingual Inforemer HD/MAX from GPS Industries (GPSI).
Once the near-private playground for the Hollywood crowd, La Quinta Resort & Club in southern California’s Coachella Valley now hosts visitors from around the world. “We’re an international golf destination, and it was important for us to be able to communicate with our guests in their own language as much as possible,” said Mike Kelly, director of Golf Operations for PGA West and La Quinta. “It’s one more way we want to deliver guest satisfaction.”
In addition to its multiple language capability, the patented Inforemer HD/MAX provides the GPS industry’s only full-motion video flyovers of each hole, distance measurement information, strategic playing tips and food-and-beverage service. The system uses a wireless communication network to help course operators manage tournaments, food-and-beverage sales and pace of play.
“The GPS Industries product is innovative and multi-functional,” Kelly said. “It was a clear choice for us.”
La Quinta and PGA West’s multiple language needs are a good example of the technical sophistication and flexibility of the Inforemer system, according to Kevin Carpenter, vice president of sales and marketing for GPS Industries. “The system’s components work together as a comprehensive management solution that can be customized to a course’s specific needs,” he said.
The Inforemer HD/MAX Management System is available for members and guests playing the PGA West’s Stadium and Nicklaus Tournament courses, as well as La Quinta Resort & Club sister properties, the Mountain and the Dunes.
