Norcross, GA (June , 2009) – In another dominating performance, Brian Gay captured The St. Jude Classic title this past weekend, making it his second win in his last five events, and his third career victory on the PGA Tour. Using his high performance Mizuno MX long irons (3-4) and MP mid/short irons (5-PW), Mizuno hybrid and Mizuno Bettinardi C-Series putter, Gay put on quite a show, hitting precision shot, after precision shot on his way to a runaway performance in Memphis. With his victory at the St. Jude Classic, Gay climbed up to 4th in FedEx Cup points and 8th on the Official Money List.
Gay arrived in Memphis as one of only seven players with an opportunity to play their way into the US Open with an exemption as a multiple winner in the last calendar year. With that in mind, Gay came out of the gates hot and led the tournament by one after the first round and never looked back, eventually winning wire-to-wire by an impressive five-stroke margin.
“We are extremely proud of Brian in this his third win on Tour. He is obviously playing as well as anyone right now, with two wins in his last five events, and we hope he can carry that momentum into the US Open.” said Dick Lyons, Vice President and General Manager, Golf Division for Mizuno USA, Inc. “Brian is well known for his precision iron shots and lights out putting, and we’re proud that he trusts Mizuno to provide the performance he needs to be successful in those all important aspects of his game.”
