Jim Engh design moves to #8 in the State and #4 among public courses in Michigan

Harbor Springs, MI – True North Golf Club, a premier private residential development located north of Harbor Springs, was selected among Golf Digest Magazine’s Best in State in Michigan in 2009. True North, designed by nationally award winning architect Jim Engh, is ranked #8 overall and #4 among public courses in the State.

Golf Digest’s annual survey of America’s Best New Courses and Best in State courses is conducted by a panel of 800 golfers. Panelists rate courses based on shot values, design variety, resistance to scoring, memorability, and aesthetics.

True North Golf Club is ranked only behind award winning layouts Arcadia Bluffs, Forest Dunes Golf Club, and Tullymore Golf Club as the top public courses in Michigan.

“It is very exciting to be ranked among the best courses in Michigan by Golf Digest, and a tremendous honor to be listed in the same group with places like Arcadia Bluffs, Forest Dunes, and Tullymore,” said Kevin Whitmore, director of golf at True North Golf Club. “This ranking solidifies the quality of golf course design by Jim Engh and the overall maintenance practices by our staff.”

True North Golf Club offers a stunning setting of perfectly manicured fairways flowing gracefully up and down hillsides, through natural sanctuaries of solid stands of hard wood trees. The expansive fairways are a fitting prelude to Engh’s signature large undulated greens and bunker complexes. Four stunning holes have natural elevation drops ranging from 60 to 100 feet offering panoramic views.

Underscoring True North’s private club experience is the elegant stone and wood clubhouse offering fine yet casual dining for lunch and dinner in the warm Compass Room restaurant. Large windows as well as the deck and patio serve up panoramic views of the course.

Secluded home sites are being offered on and off the course at True North and limited memberships are also available.
