Anders Bengtson, President of World Golfers USA, announced that the Plantation Palms Golf Club in Land-O-Lakes, FL will host a World Golfers Championship qualifying event on July 26 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start planned.
Razor Golf of New Port Richey, FL will be hosting the event to benefit the Jan Stephenson Crossroads Foundation. Entry fee will be $125 per player. The first 50 entries will receive a dozen Titleist Pro V1x golf balls courtesy of Autoway Cadillac. To enter, call 727 849-8844.
The winners from five handicap categories (0-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-25) will earn spots in the United States finals, scheduled Sept. 12-13 at the Mission Inn Resort’s El Campeon and Las Colinas Courses in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL.
They will be joined there by the flight winners from all over the U.S. The winners at Mission Inn earn trips to the World Golfers Championship, scheduled Oct. 24-31 at the Marbella Golf Resort in Spain. The trip includes coach air fare, accommodations, meals and four days of golf.
Bengtson also reminded other clubs wishing to send teams to the U.S. finals that the deadline for qualifying events will be Aug. 24. The entry fee is $600 per club. Call 561 313-9083 to sign up.
