Burton Ward, CCM, CCE, Named 2018 Club Executive of the Year
Club Management magazine has named Burton Ward, CCM, CCE, the 2018 Club Executive of the Year. A member of the Metropolitan Chapter of the Club Management Association of America (CMAA), Ward serves as the General Manager of Century Country Club in Purchase, NY.
Over his 21 years at Century Country Club, Ward has impacted the quality, performance, and integrity of the club. Ward has overseen multiple construction projects totaling many millions of dollars in renovations with an eye for long range planning for the club’s functions, aesthetics, and budgets. Under his guidance and leadership, Century has successfully grown and adapted to changing times, always staying vital, and on the cutting edge of the modern-day club experience.
Annually, Club Management recognizes the best in club leadership with the Club Executive of the Year Award. Created in 1985 and originally known as the Club Manager of the Year, this prestigious honor is presented to the club executive who most embodies the values, vision, and professionalism of CMAA. Nominations are accepted in early fall, and selections are made by a committee of club management professionals including past recipients.
In 2008, the award was re-titled to mirror the evolution of the club management profession. Ward is the 33rd club executive to be honored through this award. The complete list is available at cmaa.org/ceoy
