The 2018 Volvik World Long Drive Championship, to be contested at the WinStar World Casino & Resort, in Thackerville, Okla., Aug. 30 – Sept. 5, will feature the world’s longest hitters in golf. The action-packed competition will be televised live Sept. 4 and 5 on Golf Channel. Volvik returns as the title sponsor of this exciting event for the second consecutive year.

In the Open Division of last year’s event, Justin James, of Jacksonville, Fla., currently the #1 ranked World Long Drive hitter in the world, claimed his first Volvik World Long Drive Championship title. James, a Team Volvik Staff Member, connected on a 435-yard drive in the Championship match. In the 2017 Women’s Division, Sandra Carlborg, of Alingsas, Sweden, claimed her record fifth Volvik World Long Drive Championship, distinguishing herself as the most decorated female World Long Drive hitter. Having secured her previous titles in 2011, ’12,’14 and ’15 respectively, Carlborg achieved her fifth world title with a 320-yard drive in the Championship match. In the Masters
Division, Team Volvik Staff Member Jeff Crittenden, of Greensboro, N.C., won the title in the Championship match with a 363-yard blast.
The 2018 Volvik World Long Drive Championship promises to provide even more excitement with seven Team Volvik Staff Members in the field, including: World #1-ranked Justin James, #3 Maurice Allen, #6 Kyle Berkshire and #7 Tim Burke; in the Women’s Division, Phillis Meti and Troy Mullins; and in the Master’s Division, Jeff Crittenden.
