Players Flock To Softspikes For Ultimate Traction In Wet Conditions, As The #1 Cleat On TOUR Captures Plastic Cleat Field At 2009 U.S. Open; Over 60% Of The Plastic Cleat Field Wore Softspikes Brand Cleats
Brentwood, Tennessee, June 22, 2009 … In torrential rains and wet weather conditions that required the ultimate in traction, PrideSports, maker of Softspikes® golf cleats, the world’s best selling golf cleat brand and the #1 Cleat on TOUR, captured the cleat count at the 109th U.S. Open, where over 60% of the plastic cleat field wore the Company’s stable of products. The cleat count victory marked the Company’s 50th straight Major, an unprecedented streak of success among golf equipment companies.
In other tour news, Softspikes captured a victory at the Nationwide Tour’s Fort Smith Classic as the winner wore Pulsar® and 30 of the top 31 players donned Softspikes cleats.
“Winning the cleat count and dominating the leaderboard in the wettest conditions imaginable at the U.S. Open speaks volumes to the confidence PGA TOUR players have in Softspikes,” said John Hohman, VP of Marketing, PrideSports. “We are also thrilled with the win on the Nationwide Tour as it demonstrates that the future stars of golf also rely on our arsenal of cleats.”
PrideSports was formed in January 2003 following Pride Manufacturing Company’s purchase of Softspikes, Inc., and its sister company Trisport, Ltd. of England. This acquisition essentially formed the world’s premier golf accessories company, as Pride and Softspikes are the world’s leading golf tee and golf cleat lines, respectively. Today, PrideSports is the world leader in the design and manufacture of cleats, spikes and receptacles for the entire golf footwear industry.
