“We look forward to providing fans with an unprecedented level of access to this year’s championship through a number of innovative digital offerings that are sure to bring golf fans closer to the action at The Country Club,” said USGA Chief Commercial Officer Jon Podany. “From live streams of championship play to in-depth performance analytics, to augmented reality, golf fans across the world will be able to immerse themselves in the U.S. Open.”
From June 16-19 fans can expect:
Live Streaming on Any Device
Featured groups and featured hole coverage, presented by American Express, will be available for all four rounds of the championship on usopen.com and on the U.S. Open app for iOS and Android. Live streaming will also be available on the free USGA OnDemand app available on Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV, with full leader board and win probability integration right within the viewing experience. Additionally, for the first time, Xbox will also have live streaming available on their platforms via USGA OnDemand.
U.S. Open AR built by Deloitte
With the Emmy-nominated U.S. Open AR app built by Deloitte, fans will have the ability to follow and replay every shot on their mobile devices in augmented reality. Users can engage with three-dimensional views of all 18 holes, view players’ live status throughout the championship, and jump to that player’s play in AR. Fans will also be able to compare how their favorite golfers perform against each other, even if they aren’t grouped together, and use the heatmap to compare players’ shots against all prior shots on that hole. New for this year, fans can also explore USGA history through an interactive 360° virtual tour of the USGA Golf Museum and Library.
Cisco 4D Replay on Demand at the 12th Hole
Fans will be able to view all 156 players’ swings from various angles through an exclusive feature within the U.S. Open app that showcases select shots in 4D technology.
Probability Tracker
The U.S. Open app and usopen.com will feature real-time probabilities of all 156 competitors’ chances to win, finish in the top 10, and make the cut, beginning prior to the start of the championship. Fans can compare probability journeys with the head-to-head player comparison feature. And for the first time, usopen.com will have a Biggest Movers feature, which will show the players whose chances of U.S. Open glory make the biggest jumps each day.
U.S. Open Interactive History Experience in partnership with Rolex
Rolex returns with new editions of the “My U.S. Open” series highlighting two-time U.S. Open champion Curtis Strange on his win at The Country Club in 1988, along with 2003 champion Jim Furyk, who is also in this year’s field. In addition, Rolex has partnered with the USGA to produce an interactive timeline on usopen.com that includes videos, photos, and stats from championships throughout U.S. Open history.
U.S. Open Pick ‘Em
Fans can enter the daily Risk It and Pick 3 games on the U.S. Open app and usopen.com to test their golf savvy and have a chance to win prizes. The games are free to play in and feature different predictive questions and players each day; fans can track the progress of their picks in real time as the action unfolds.
