Shaft Skinz user, Jiyai Shin romped to victory again this week at the Wegmans LPGA event in Pittsford, NY.
The margin of victory was a healthy 7 shots and the result never looked in doubt after the opening round 65 was followed by a 68 for a record halfway total.
Shin has now won five LPGA Tour tournaments with her Shaft Skinz decorated shafts. Two of those wins have come this year as ‘official’ victories. Last season as a non-member, Shin won three times, including the RICOH Women’s British Open where she first put Shaft Skinz into play on her driver and most of her iron shafts, the Mizuno Classic and the season-ending ADT Championship, taking home the $1 million first-place prize.
Jiyai is perhaps best known for the ‘New Fire’ design she sports on her driver. The flame motif can be clearly seen decorating the shaft as she holds her effortlessly balanced finish and is increasingly seen in photos of her as more and more of us realise she is the one to watch.
Despite her rapid success, the diminutive South Korean still claims that her aim for this season is only to become the ‘Rookie of the Year’ but she already tops the money list with almost 20% higher earnings than her nearest rival.
Shaft Skinz decorative sleeves are gaining popularity on the LPGA with 18 players having already chosen to brighten up the shafts of at least one club. Indeed, the player tied for second this week has also recently joined the ranks of those who have chosen to ‘play with color™’ by decorating her driver with the company’s pink ‘Champagne’ design.
