MIAMI, Fl (July 2) – Jason Carbone, one of GOLF Magazine’s Top-100 Instructors, and Director of Instruction for the Jim McLean Golf School at The Wigwam Golf Resort and Spa just outside of Phoenix, AZ, will take a break from the lesson tee to carry the bag of Kimberly Kim at the 2009 Women’s U.S. Open Championship to be played at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, PA beginning July 9.
Carbone, who has worked with many touring professionals, including the legendary Jack Nicklaus (when Carbone was Director of Instruction at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Ohio), has been working with Kim for over a year. Only 17-years old, Kim qualified for the Women’s U.S. Open Championship in a sectional qualifier by shooting a 73 and 70. She followed the qualifier by winning the Rolex Girls Junior Championship, and then finished runner-up in the U.S. Women’s Public Links Championship.
Said Carbone of Kim, “She is the most talented junior I have ever seen!”
Kim, who will be a freshman this Fall at Denver University, was the youngest golfer ever to win the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship when she won in 2006 at the ripe young age of 14.
Meanwhile, Carbone is establishing himself as one of the game’s bright young instructors. Not only is Carbone one of the Top-100, he was named by Golf Digest as one of the Top-20 Teachers under the age of 40. While working at some of the top golf clubs in Ohio from 2003 to 2006, Carbone was named as the No. 1 Instructor in the entire state.
On McLean’s staff since 1998, Carbone worked his way through the ranks before being entrusted with running the Jim McLean Golf School at The Wigwam Golf Resort and Spa in 2006.
In addition to working with Kimberly Kim, Carbone is currently working with several other players including Ryan Armour, Andrew Buckle, and Jin Park. He has also spent time working with Len Mattiace and Chris Perry.
A standout golfer as well, Carbone played four years at Bowling Green University, and plays in a number of PGA of America sanctioned events.
If you are interested in speaking to Jason and getting the “inside” story on how well Kimberly is playing, and what Jason and Kimberly are working on, please call Warren Rogan at Rogan Media (407) 435-0540 to arrange an interview at next week’s Women’s U.S. Open Championship.
