Mission Inn to send two teams to U.S. finals

The Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL will send two teams of amateurs to the U.S. finals of the World Golfers Championship and they will have the advance of local knowledge since their club will be the host site.

Brian Flaherty and Mike Graves prevailed in flight 1 with 80-76 and 88-85, respectively. In flight 2, Jennifer Hartman and Trey Purser advanced with 79-70 and 84-73, respectively. Bob Graver (90-76) and Willie Wilson (97-79) took flight 3 honors. Robin Smith’s 86-65 and Charles Wilson’s 98-77 claimed flight 4. In flight 5, Pauline Wilson and Frank McInerney advanced with 110-72 and 119-92 totals, respectively.

They will be joined at Mission Inn on Sept. 12-13 by the winners of other qualifying events being held across the United States. Clubs can still conduct qualifyings until Aug. 24. The entry fee is $600 for one team or $1,000 for two teams.

The winners in the five flights will represent the U.S. in the World Golfers Championship Oct. 24-31 in Marbella, Spain.
